The Victims of November (2021)
by Harpal Singh
The assassination of India's Prime Minister, Mrs. Indira Gandhi, on 31 October 1984 by her Sikh bodyguards triggered a wave of violence against the Sikhs across the country. Over 5,000 Sikhs were killed in three days by members and supporters of the ruling Congress party, more than half in the capital, New Delhi. Thirty-six years later, the victims' families, comprising a large number of widows, are still struggling for justice and a life of dignity.
