A mother, activist and oral historian, she has served in various leadership roles at community, national and international social justice organizations and movements working at the intersection of gender, culture and activism. At V-Day, in partnership with grassroots women, Purva has conceived and developed dozens of programs, trainings, convenings, global campaigns, demonstrations, testimonials and cultural events about issues related to violence against women and girls.
Yaad Se/From Memory is for my father, who is suffering from Parkinson’s. His memory is at times shaky. He says he lives in his memories. As his health declines I want to unpack his memories with him. It feels like a race against time and the questions are swirling. What can he recall and retell – from memory – as his memory itself slips away from him? How does he perceive his life? And what does his perception reveal about our family?
