Culture Without Borders Language Collective's First Ever Language Party and Translation Workshop (2023)

By Lindsay Szper

At Culture Without Borders' first ever Language Party and Translation Workshop, members of our community will come together to share skills, learn from each other, and have a good time. During the party we'll eat, drink, talk, dance and be have fun. We'll also work together to produce high-quality English <> Spanish translations of quotes from interviews with members of our community. These quotes and translations will later be used in educational materials distributed by our school.

People who attend CWB's Language Party will hear live music (by Rose Thomas and Bob), learn some basic dance steps (from Ingrid), practice translation (with Becky and Lindsay), and eat snacks, pizza, and Dominican Bizcocho (by Carlos). During the translation workshop participants will work in small, multilingual teams to produce high-quality, publishable translations of quotes of members of our community. CWB's Language Party and Translation Workshop is a chance to learn about the art and profession of translation, contribute to and learn from CWB's knowledge-production process, and make friends across the so-called "language barrier."

Note: This event is full - but please check out the agenda below and join us at the next one!
