The House I Return To
By Feyisayo Aluko
The House I Return To is a short documentary film that asks what was broken in Nigeria’s educational history. Through oral history interviews with alumni of King's College Lagos who came of age in the immediate post-independence period, the film reflects on what it means to love, leave, and inherit Nigeria today. This event will feature a private screening of a first draft of the film, with the intention of receiving feedback from Nigerian audiences. Attendees are invited to engage the work reflectively, drawing on their own memories of secondary school and coming of age, and considering what the film stirs in them.
Following the screening, there will be a moderated talkback and an opportunity for open discussion.
A NOTE FROM THE CURATOR: This is an in-person, private event with limited seating and is accessible by invitation only.
